ECO1007
This topic sheds light on how financial advice can be set up and run. Here, variables of importance for interaction between user and advisor, the work process and various aids that can contribute to quality in the guidance are highlighted.
The course is offered in the study program Further education in Economic Counseling. The course can also be taken as a single course for students who are not admitted to the program.

General study competence or approved prior learning according to current rules.

Admission to the course presupposes that ECO1006 Economic Sociology, Social Policy, Psychology and Law has been passed. Students can start on course 2 pending a new exam on ECO1006 being held and censored.

Knowledge

Candidates

  • Has broad knowledge of various approaches to guidance, counseling and negotiation
  • Has knowledge of social work analyzes and methods, relevant to financial counseling.
  • Has broad knowledge of the implementation of voluntary and compulsory debt settlement
  • Has knowledge of bailiff management and debt collection processes.
  • Has knowledge of schemes for voluntary and compulsory administration, including guardianship.

Skills

Candidates:

  • Can meet people in stressful situations and contribute to fruitful dialogue
  • Can establish and maintain dialogue between creditors and debtors.
  • Can produce representations of case matters and conduct correspondence with creditors, partners and users.
  • Can lead collaboration processes with users, creditors and other relevant participants.
  • Can conduct information work and training in personal finance issues with the aim of preventing the development of debt problems.
  • Can apply international experience in own work.

Candidates

  • Has insight into all key variables regarding advice and guidance of users with payment and debt problems.
  • Has insight into ethical requirements and guidelines and how this is taken care of in meetings with users and partners
  • Can understand and reflect critically on financial advice as a service in relation to the needs of users and the rights enshrined in legislation.
  • Knows professional innovation in financial advice.

Mandatory
The teaching alternates between lectures, seminars, group work and teacher guidance.
The study program is evaluated annually by the students through course examinations (mid-term evaluation and final evaluation). These evaluations are included as part of the university's quality assurance system.

  • Compulsory participation at 80% of the classes. Assessment hour by hour. Assessed as approved / not approved.
  • Work requirement in groups. Assessed as approved / not approved.
  • Take-home exam, 1 week. Assessed on the basis of a grade scale A-F, where A-E represents a passed grade. Take-home exam counts for 100% of the grade.
