Bachelor's Thesis

HAV2010

The thesis is a supervised independent work that may be theoretically based or based on students' own results.

The form for approval of the topic must be delivered to the Faculty by 15 September for the autumn semester / 20 January for the spring semester.

Specific guidance for writing the bachelor's thesis is given on Canvas. This will also clarify the formal requirements of the thesis.

The course is based on theoretical knowledge equivalent to the first 5 semesters of the bachelor's programme Aquaculture Management.

Knowledge

The student should:

  • have a broad knowledge of key theories, tools and methods within the project's theme
  • be able to plan and carry out an independent project or a smaller experimental work with an academic report

Skills

The student should:

  • be able to write clearly and concisely within a professional frame
  • be able to critically assess and use various types of written academic sources
  • be able to reflect on his/her own professional practice and adjust this under guidance

General competence

The student should:

  • through use of academic sources and acquired skills be able to communicate technical issues to the farming industry
  • through use of academic sources and acquired skills be able to communicate technical issues to the community at large
Normally no costs except semester registration fee and syllabus literature.
Compulsory: BA in Aquaculture Management Elective: BA in Aquaculture Management with a certificate of completed apprenticeship aquaculture, industrial food production, seafood trading or seafood production
Seminars.
Every course is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies (mid-term evaluation and final evaluation). These evaluations are included in the university's quality assurance system.
