HUS2151
This course contains the following main topics:
- innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture
- strategic management and planning
- network and collaboration
- operation management
- tools for analyzing, planning and managing
The subject is reserved for students of the following study programmes:
- Animal Sciences - Welfare and Production, Bachelor’s Programme
Other students can get admitted if there are places available. Contact student advisor.
Students must meet current admission requirements for the associated study program.
After completing the course, the student will have achieved the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
- has knowledge of key issues, tools and analyses related to strategic choices and development on farms
- has knowledge of value added businesses in agriculture and key issues related to developing and managing these
- have knowledge of important elements in developing a business plan and model for a business
- has knowledge of theories about sources to wealth creation and profitability in firms
Skills:
- can apply his or her professional insight, relevant tools and analyses onto developing his or her own farm and to provide advice to others in developing their business
- can use his or her professional insight and attitudes to promote innovation in agriculture
- can use his or her knowledge and skills to lead and facilitate innovation processes in their own or others' business
General competence:
- has knowledge of aspects and analysis tools that are important for the farmer as a business leader and for those who wish to start additional business on their farm
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Elective
Lectures, exercises and presentations.
Evaluated annually by students through course surveys. These evaluations are included in the university’s quality assurance system.
Compound assessment
Assessment task. Approved/ Not approved. Must be passed prior to the written examination.
Written examination, 4 hours, comprises 100% of the grade, grading scale A-F.
