The bachelors thesis is an individual task, and the student choose a topic and formulate problem statement.The topic of the bachelor thesis must be registered and approved by the course responsible based on a brief research proposal (1-2 pages) which also proposed a research question and relevant theoretical perspective(s) and methodological approach. The problem statement/research question must be narrow enough to address within the limits of the thesis, and it must be possible to answer it with the resources at the student's disposal (e.g., available datasets, documents etc.). The topic for the thesis must be based in a course the student has taken previously, so that the student has some prior academic knowledge about the topic.
Bachelor thesis will constitute a smaller independent research work, where the use of relevant academic theories and perspectives to be applied on a chosen topic. The task undertaken as a less empirical study or as a limited literature study. The thesis will be based on one or more of the courses included in the bachelor's program.
All mandatory courses (90 ECTS) on the programme must be passed, in order for the student to start this third year course.

- be able to apply academic and theoretical knowledge as well as relevant results from research

- be able to find, assess and refer to relevant research, and present this so that the problem to be addressed

- convey theories, issues, discussions and solutions in writing
- be able to exchange professional views and experiences with others with backgrounds in thematic area
No costs except semester registration fee and syllabus literature.
Recommended elective course for Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies.
Work with bachelor thesis. Supervisor according to tutorial agreement. The theme of the bachelor thesis must be registered and approved by the teacher out of a brief research proposal (1-2 pages) which also proposed a research question and relevant theoretical and methodological perspective. Supervisor will assist in finding an appropriate topic. The thesis is an individual task, and shall have a maximum value of approximately 25 pages. It is also possible that two students may write together, the maximum number of pages is then 30
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
The bachelor thesis must be written in English
