Innovation and Circular Economy

ORG2004
The course is an elective course focusing on the key role of innovation in Circular Economy for sustainability and business development. Specifically, we focus on connecting innovation and Circular Economy to studies of entrepreneurship, Digitalisation, Business development, Value chains and finally, measurements of sustainable business focusing on the new EU Taxonomy reporting.

Knowledge about

  • The role of innovation and entrepreneurship in the implementation of Circular Economy
  • The role of different types of innovation in Circular development, including product-, process-, business model-, supply chain-, and digital innovation and implementation
  • Innovation in Circlular development of products, business development and supply chains
  • Circular Economy theory and interdisciplinary background
  • Circular Economy in business development for sustainable industries
  • Digitalisation and how digital technologies and innovation can support Circular Economy transitions
  • Value chains and cooperation between partners and use of digital tools for realising sustainable, circular value chains
  • The EU taxonomy for sustainable finance and measurements

Skills

  • The candidates can use their skills and experiances in combination with Circular Economy theory to discuss and analyse relevant business cases
  • The candidates can analyse a business case focusing on factors such as innovation or value chain and how Circular Economy is reflected (or not) in the case
  • The candidates can use Circular Economy theory to discuss potential business development towards sustainability

General competence

  • The candidates can combine theory from business and economic subjects with innovation and Circular Economy for analysing and discussing real-life challenges and opportunities in academic and business contexts.
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Elective course

All activites are online

Students are encouraged to cooperate with partners at the same campus and in person, but online cooperation is possible.

Lectures online

Groupwork in groups of 2-4 during the course and for the evaluation project

Analysis of cases, discussions and presentations

Supervision

The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.
Group assignment. Grade A-F

All support materials allowed. Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly or partially as one's own answer is considered cheating.
