Law for Estate Agents 1

In Law for Estate Agents 1 the students will be introduced to and will gain an understanding of the law for the exercise of the real estate profession. This includes an introduction to the law governing the relationship between the buyer and the seller from the sale of real property, including rules on the agreement and the law concerning the registration of real estate. Different forms of provision of security will also be reviewed during the course.
The course is only open for students on the program Bachelor in Real Estate.

Knowledge:

• Has thorough knowledge on topics within the field of real estate brokerage, such as buying and selling of real estate and various ownership forms.

• Understands the fundamental framework and legal requirements governing the real estate brokerage profession.

• Is familiar with the legal rules regulating the ownership forms of cooperative apartments and condominiums.

• Has in-depth knowledge of the legal rules concerning the sale of new and used housing.

• Has knowledge of the registration of rights and obligations related to real estate.

• Is familiar with rules regarding contract formation that are relevant to the real estate brokerage profession.

Skills:

• Can identify and explain problems related to different ownership forms.

• Can identify and resolve legal problems in condominiums, cooperatives, and housing cooperatives.

• Can find and apply relevant legal provisions that regulate the relationship between buyer and seller, as well as other basic matters in real estate brokerage.

• Can explain and apply rules for the sale of new and used housing.

• Is able to navigate and apply the legal rules when selling newly constructed houses, condominiums, and cooperative apartments.

• Can explain and apply rules about mortgages and registration of real estate.

• Can apply rules on contract formation relevant to the real estate brokerage profession.

General competence:

• Can critically apply knowledge and skills in situations when buying and selling real estate.

• Is prepared for ethically and professionally responsible practice in the real estate brokerage industry.

• Can use basic legal methods relevant in the real estate brokerage profession.

Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
Lectures and group work.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the university's quality assurance system.
