Introduction to Property Development

RET1007
The course is only open for students on the program Bachelor in Real Estate.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the course, students should have:

  • basic knowledge of considerations and values in the Norwegian planning system, including how planning can produce added value
  • good knowledge of land management pursuant to the Planning and Building Act (types of plans, processing of building applications, process requirements, participation, appeals and legal effects)
  • familiarity with the real estate market in Norway, property development as a process, and how market participants behave

Skills

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • explain the basic features of a planning process, and solve relevant practical cases,
  • collect, analyse and discuss relevant planning and property information for potential development areas and objects
  • reflect on the economic and social consequences of land-use planning and real estate development

General competence

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • contribute to solving complex tasks related to the relationship between public land management and other parts of real estate development projects
  • communicate about land use planning and real estate development with professionals in the field
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
Lectures and group work.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.

  • Reprint of laws and regulations (these cannot contain comments or notes, just references to other laws / sections).
