BirdID WP has two main goals: - to recognize bird species based on their appearance and behavior - and to recognize bird species based on their sounds, especially song

The syllabus consist of species that are registered throughout the Western Palearctic region and according to the syllabus list.

More information can be found here

Online teaching takes place on the website linked above.

The website contains large amounts of images and sounds where quizzes connected to BirdID's e-book facilitate learning. Citizens of most European countries will be able to use the quiz, e-book and do the exam in their own language.

FIELD-BASED TEACHING: The field courses in Morocco, Bulgaria and Norway can be done independently of each other and in the order the student wishes. It is not compulsory to attend the field courses, but the student must pass both exams before attending.

Application forms for field courses and exams can be found here: www.birdid.no

The field courses in Morocco, Bulgaria and Norway can be taken independently of each other and in the order the student wishes. It is not compulsory to attend the field courses. The exams in sounds and appearance of birds must both be passed for WP before it is possible to apply to participate in the field courses.

There is no tuition fee for students within EU/EEA/ETFA.

The exam is individual.

The exam is a web-based home exam and consists of bird images/sounds that must be identified by species

A home exam takes about 1 hour.

Before the exam can be taken, the student must complete a work requirement. The work requirement consists of 10 web-based training sets in exam mode with a minimum score of 40%. The work requirement is like a semester assignment, and cannot be started until you have been admitted as a student and have gained access to the assignments. After the work requirement has been passed, the student has 10 days to complete the exam.

It will be possible to take a new exam after three months. You have a maximum of 3 exam attempts. To take a new exam, the student must register again, in the same way. Best results will prevail. The exam result is given on a graded scale.
