In all industries there is a need for people who have knowledge in economics and administration. The year program in Business Administration gives you a basic introduction to the subject area and is a basic education that you can build on.

The one year program in economics and management focuses on business administration, methodology and other subjects.

The study is a campus based full-time study with regular lectures. All topics have their own online learning platforms on the internet. Learning and working methods will be based on research, as well as a practice orientation.

This varies from topic to topic and is given in the form of lectures, colloquia, assignments and practical exercises. It is often arranged for teamwork that promotes training in communication and collaboration.

For those with a previous education, the year's program is a useful supplementary education and competence development. The program is also suitable for applicants who wish to take a shorter course in business economics than a three-year bachelor program.

The program constitutes the first year of the Bachelor's program in economy, digitalization and businessdevelopment, which has been established in accordance with the recommendation of the UHR-ØA (National Council for Economic Administrative Education), where an economic-administrative education should comprise at least the four areas of business administration, socioeconomics, administration and methodology.

The one year program will give the candidates a solid understanding of markets and organizations as well as develop their ability to reflect on basic questions and values. In addition, topics in mathematics, statistics, business economics analysis - and financial accounting. The first year of study is common with the bachelor program in economy, digitalization and businessdevelopment.

After completing the annual studies you can apply for a transition to the mentioned bachelor program. The admission requirement is that 6 out of 8 subjects are passed.

Parts of the instruction will assume that the candidate has access to a computer or tablet that enables the use of relevant software.

Description of goals and learning outcomes Knowledge The candidate must:

  • Have knowledge of key themes, theories, issues, tools and methods in business administration, administration and methodology.
  • Knowledge on key topics in ethics, philosophy and law.
  • Knowledge on research and development within different business economics.
  • Have knowledge of history and traditions in economics and management.

Skills The candidate must:

  • Be able to apply professional knowledge to practical, legal and theoretical issues and explain their choices
  • Be able to find, evaluate and refer to information and subject matter and present this to highlight a problem
  • Be able to master relevant professional tools, techniques and expressions
  • Be able to use ICT to solve various academic issues with relevant software.

General competence The candidate must:

  • Have insight into relevant professional and occupational issues
  • Be able to present key subjects in writing, such as theories, issues and solutions.
  • Be able to exchange views with others based on the subject area and participate in discussions on the development of good practice.
  • Knowledge about new thoughts and innovation processes.
The one year program qualifies for simple tasks in business and public administration. Knowledge in economics and management will make any candidate more attractive in working life in combination with other types of education and competencies.
It is not facilitated for exchange in the one-year program.
No specific costs other than semester registration fee and course literature.
The candidates knowledge of all subjects will be evaluated. Various evaluation methods are customized to each subject. Home exams, papers / projects, case studies and other oral and written presentations are used in addition to the final written or oral exams. Bodø Graduate School of Business uses standard letter grades.
The programme is evaluated via student questionnaire, as well as by the programme director. The evaluations form a part of the University's quality assurance system.
