As a PhD candidate, I am affiliated with the MedSafe-Old project: Safe medication use for older recipients of municipal home care services. The goal of MedSafe-Old is to facilitate sustainable, personalized, and safe medication use for older adults living at home. The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway (HELSEVEL), and the project owner is Nord University at the Centre for Care Research - mid.
I am a PhD candidate on Work Package 3 in MedSafe-old, which aims to develop knowledge about the experiences of older recipients of home care services, and their relatives, with safe and personalized medication use. The project has a co-creative and qualitative design, where co-researchers who are older adults conduct interviews with older adults living at home and their relatives. We examine which areas of medication use are perceived as challenging and what needs they have. Then, from a co-creation perspective, we look at which measures elderly, relatives, and healthcare personnel can agree on to contribute to personalized and safe medication use. Finally, we look at how co-researchers can contribute to increased knowledge about personalized and safe medication use among the elderly.
