About me

Hei! I am Ioannis and my interests lie within the fields of marine biology, aquaculture, sustainable food production, genetics, genetic engineering, epigenetics and bioinformatics.
I have an integrated MSc in ichthyology and aquatic environment and an MSc in sustainable management of aquatic resources with focus on population genetics.
In 2020, I completed my Ph.D. at Nord University studying epigenetics of muscle growth on animals undergoing domestication.

BSc (6) and MSc (2) student supervisions throughout my MSc and PhD studies.

In 2021 and 2022, I have been teaching Aquatic Genomics and Bioinformatics MSc course (BI311F) at Nord University.

Currently, I am working towards the validation of epigenetic markers related to animal domestication and their growth potential, using CRISPR.
Additionally, I am working towards the optimization of nuclei isolations for single-nuclei ATAC and RNA-Seq libraries using the 10X Genomics platform.

Principal investigator of funded project EPITRANS (by Nord University - R&D) with a budget of NOK 200,000.
