Ioannis Konstantinidis
I am a research-oriented postdoctoral fellow with strong passion in biology and bioinformatics. My goal is to decipher and understand fundamental and complex biological systems that ultimately lead to high technology readiness. Currently, I study puberty in Atlantic cod and how single-cell multi-omics can improve our understanding of neuroendocrine signals.
In addition to my research, I manage two internal grants (EPITRANS and ChIPCod) and the NFR-funded EPICOD project (www.epicod.org). I also coordinate and teach the MSc course Aquatic Genomics and Bioinformatics (BIO5017) at the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture (FBA).
BSc and MSc student supervisions
Main supervisor for 1 PhD student
Co-supervisor for 2 PhD students
Teaching BIO5017 MSc course at Nord since 2021 and coordinating since 2025.
The focus of my research is:
- Validation of epigenetic biomarkers for phenotypic and trait selection.
- Single-cell transcriptomics and epigenetics in Atlantic cod and Nile tilapia.
Principal investigator of funded projects:
- EPITRANS (by Nord R&D division 2022-2023)
- EPICOD (by NFR 2023-2028)
- ChIPCod (by Nord R&D division 2024-2025)
