Publish your master's thesis
Nord University encourages master's students to publish their theses in the university's open institutional repository, Nord Open Research Archive.
Nord Open Research Archive is Nord University's open institutional repository. Here you will find scholarly publications by our employees and students, freely available in full-text.
Why publish in an open institutional repository?
- Your thesis will be searchable in the library’s search tool Oria, as well as databases and search engines (e.g. Google Scholar)
- You contribute to collecting and sharing of knowledge
- You become a part of the academic community - and form good habits when it comes to dissemination of knowledge and information
Things to consider before consenting to publish your thesis
- Before publishing an assignment ensure that it aligns with the data privacy protections so that the thesis can be published online, eventually after an embargo period (delayed access). You can find more information on Nord’s website on student’s responsibility for privacy protection in writing assessment
- Consider if any third party needs to verify publishing your thesis
- If you plan to publish your results in a book or an article, wait before publishing your thesis. Some publishers require that the thesis is not available online prior to publication
How to publish in Nord Open Research Archive?
- When submitting your thesis in Inspera, you must (in accordance with Norwegian regulations on copyright) fill out a form consenting to online publication of your thesis. If required (e.g. due to considerations on privacy protection, see above), you can ask for delayed access, or decline publication
- You can also choose to publish the thesis, yet exclude attachments from publishing. In that acse, you must submit the attachment and your thesis as different files in Inspera
- The thesis will be published no earlier than twelve weeks after the grading deadline
- The thesis to be published must be the graded thesis. We do not allow submission of a new version, or modifications of the thesis
Have you already submitted your thesis and want to make changes regarding the publication, or are you former student wishing to publish your thesis in our repository? Contact Hilde Arvidsdatter Lyster at UB Levanger or Ingrid Nekså at UB Steinkjer.
