Programme description

All organizations need skilled economists, and with this education your future prospects will be many. Are you triggered by the idea of ​​working with numbers and analysis? Or do you want to gain knowledge on how to start and run a business? You will not only learn about organizational development and management in this study program, but also how good financial management is the "key" to a well-functioning company. After graduating, you will be well qualified to work in a variety of finance related positions and industries - whether you want to build your own business, help develop the next "Spotify" - or dream of a future job in a major company or a concern.

Career opportunities

The demand for economists is high, and with this bachelor you will be well qualified to acquire a variety of positions within business, organizations and public administration. With this education you can, for example, work as an financial consultant, customer adviser and marketer. Today, several of our former students work as consultants, accounting managers, business leaders, product developers within everything from the technology industry to agriculture and fisheries, or as analysts in the banking and finance industry.

Students can take courses at our partner universities in Europe, Asia, Australia or North America as a part of this programme. The third year (either the whole year or just one semester) is best suited for a stay abroad.
This programme qualifies candidates to apply for admission to master¿s degree programmes at Nord University as well as other universities in Norway and abroad.

Upon successful completion of this programme, the candidate:

Knowledge

  • Has thorough knowledge of key themes, theories, issues, processes, tools and methods in business economy, administration and management, public economy and methodology.
  • Has knowledge of key issues in ethics, philosophy and law
  • Has knowledge of research and development work in the field
  • Has knowledge of the history and traditions in business and management
  • Has knowledge of how to establish a company, new economic trends and innovation systems.

Skills

  • Can assess operations as well as the public economic, human, legal, ethical and environmental consequences of decisions and actions
  • Can make economic and managerial choices based on limited resources so as to meet the organisation¿s targets to the best degree possible
  • Can apply professional knowledge and relevant results from R&D work to practical and theoretical issues, and make informed choices
  • Can reflect on his or her own professional praxis and adjust this under supervision
  • Can locate, assess and refer to information and academic literature and present this in order to inform an issue
  • Can apply ICT to solve various professional issues using relevant software
  • Can analyse and discuss professional management issues

General competence

  • Can plan and conduct a variety of work assignments and projects stretching over a period of time, both alone and as participant in a group, and in keeping with ethical standards and guidelines
