Academic Writing and Methodology

After completing the course, the student will have achieved the following learning outcomes:

Knowledge

• can describe the scientific methodology from the research question and hypothesis to reporting
• can explain central methods with regards to present ethical challenges within scientific studies
• can give examples of where to find scientific literature and what the difference is between scientific literature and literature from other sources
• can list the most commonly used statistical methods for data analysis, and identify for which type of data these are useful

Skills

• can find, critically examine, summarize and disseminate relevant information in regards to chosen research question
• can compose clear and concise research questions and hypotheses
• can perform basic data analysis using the correct methodology
• can evaluate own and others scientific approach and production within their own research area

General competence

• can plan a research project that prolongs over time
• can describe, conclude upon and summarize results from different data analyses
• can disseminate theme specific information using relevant agencies
