University of Algarve SEA-EU

The University of Algarve is located in the southernmost region of mainland Portugal, the Algarve. 8000 students, including 1700 international students, are spread across three campuses, located in Faro and Portimão. Faro, the capital of Algarve, is the headquarter of the university, and is home to two out three campuses. This university is part of the European university alliance SEA-EU. This alliance consists of 9 universities, including Nord University, joint together by their marine and maritime profiles.
  • Academic workload

    A full workload is 30 ECTS per semester.

  • Tuition fee

    No tuition fee for Erasmus+ students.

    Number of student places

    4 places per academic year (2 places are traineeship).

  • Housing

    Students can apply for student housing when submitting the application form.

    Note that university residences are very limited and there is no guarantee of availability. If you don't get a place, Erasmus Student Network will assist you in finding private accommodation.

    Cost of living

    As a student you will need approximately 650-800 euros per month.

  • Admission requirements

    Students must have completed one year of university level studies, equivalent to 60 ECTS.

    Language requirements

    English B1. Good command of Portuguese is recommended.

  • Exchange students from non-EU/EEA countries must apply for a visa/study permit before entering the country of destination. Generally, students must be able to satisfy the financial documentation in order to be issued visa. For more information, go to: Visa - Portugal

    All exchange students must have valid health insurance, regardless of their nationalities. Students may be expected to purchase health care insurance for the duration of their stay, in addition to the insurance the students have from their home countries. EU/EEA students must bring their EHIC card. Non-EU/EEA students need to show that they have valid health insurance that covers their whole stay. For more information, go to:
