Ravindra Kumar
Dr. Ravindra Kumar obtained his Ph.D. (Organic Chemistry) from University of Delhi, Delhi, India in 1997 on natural product synthesis. Thereafter, he worked 5 years at the University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark and the University of Southampton, Southampton, UK as a postdoctoral fellow working on nucleic acid modifications and their application as biologics. After working 20 years in R& D of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Faridabad at various levels including DGM (Bio), Dr Kumar joined Nord University at Steinkjer as a Professor of Circular Bioeconomy in August 2022 and will continue to work on waste to wealth. The main focus of his current research is on Natural Product Chemistry, Biomass value chain creation to food, feed, energy, chemicals and fuels
Dr. Ravindra Kumar has vast experience of more than 20 years working on the interface of crude petroleum refining, vegetable oil industry, pulp and paper industry and sugar industry being Chief Scientist at R& D Centre, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (Oil refining Company), Faridabad, India from 2000 to 2022. Wherein, Dr Kumar led a group of 20 managers/postdoctoral researchers/doctoral students comprising biotechnologists, chemical engineers, chemists etc working intensively on biomass valorization to food, feed, materials, chemicals and fuels in the biorefinery concept. The process was scaled up to 10 ton per day in 2022. Apart from this, LCA, NER, LCC, NEB, an expertise in quantifying the sustainability of biofuels/biochemicals by using various tools like supply chain etc. In his research career, Dr Kumar has pu80 research papers (h-index 35Dr Kumar hasblished > ) in very high rated Journals like JACS BITE, Applied Energy and has 20 patents to his credit. Dr Kumar has supervised 2 Ph.D and masters and bachelors students (Total ~50)for industrial project.
