The programme focuses on developing the students¿ management competence and skills, i.e. leading people towards a common goal. The programme is offered as a part-time programme with 90 ECTS credits spread out over 3 years of study. All courses are manadatory.
The programme highlights management from the perspectives of individuals, change, innovation, market, process and professions. The first semester of the programme establishes a shared foundation for understanding how the market, results and organisational design shape the very fundament of management.
During the second semester, we build a platform for shared understanding of processes that aim to create new activity in the organisation as well as a foundation for exercising good day-to-day management. This includes management through inter-personal influence, collaboration, organisation and management control.
During the third semester, specialisation in change management is provided. Change management is, in this context, defined as processes through which changes in the organisation are achieved through decentralised, direct and preferably dialogue-based influence, primarily in the relationship between the manager and his or her co-workers. The second specialisation provided in the third semester is positive leadership. Positive leadership has its starting point in the assumption that the best way of exercising management in a knowledge-based society is through leading employees to lead themselves. They must be led to lead their relations and to leading their own creativity. In order for this to succeed, management must operate in the context of a positive leadership perspective.
During the fourth semester, candidates start preparing for their master¿s thesis through the course in applied research methodology. In addition, emphasis is placed on theoretical specialisation and practical training in self-management. This course also investigates how one can make autonomous groups work.
The final year of study is entirely dedicated to writing the master¿s thesis. The master¿s thesis is an independent academic work written under supervision. The theme for the thesis can be related to the company the candidate works for, to cooperation with other companies or organisations, or to leadership-related investigations among managers.

The practice of leadership in our time depends on a multitude of expectations and performance requirements. Management often takes place under complex and ambiguous conditions and involves insecurity and unforeseen circumstances. Management actions are often fragmented, procedural and adjusted to specific situations. Today¿s job marked thus demands leaders who are able to lead under such conditions and who, in addition to professional education, also possess sufficient knowledge of and experiences in interpersonal interaction, self-reflection and awareness for them to take the lead when the situation so requires.
