International Seminar on Qualitative Research Methods in Business and Accounting Draws Scholars from Across the Globe to Bodø
On April 3rd and 4th, 2024, the XI Colloquium on Qualitative Research Methods in Business and Accounting took place at Nord University in Bodø, Norway. This event, which brought together esteemed experts and researchers in qualitative research, was a resounding success with full attendance, serving as a vital platform for in-depth discussions and workshops.

Hosted by Professor Giuseppe Grossi (Nord University, Norway, and Kristianstad University, Sweden), chaired by Lee Parker (the University of Glasgow, UK), the colloquium featured several international presenters, including Giuseppe Grossi and Lee Parker, as well as Ericka Costa from the University of Trento, Italy, Rania Kamla from Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University, UK, and Mark Christensen from ESSEC Business School in Singapore.

The Colloquium, which has been annually convened by Professor Parker since 2008 across Australia, Asia, and Europe, marked its return in 2024 after a pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This long-awaited event offered a unique opportunity for qualitative researchers and postgraduate research students to engage with leading scholars and explore cutting-edge methodologies.

More that sixty attendees, including early-career researchers, doctoral candidates, senior academics, and industry consultants, immersed themselves in discussions covering a wide spectrum of qualitative research methodologies. From formal presentations by professorial research leaders to interactive forums and exercises, participants gained valuable insights aimed at enhancing their competencies and publication successes in qualitative research.

The XI Colloquium on Qualitative Research Methods in Business and Accounting reaffirmed its status as a cornerstone event in the academic calendar, providing a collaborative platform for scholars to advance their understanding and application of qualitative research methodologies included netnography, interviews in non-western contexts, visual content analysis, feminist/vulnerable group research, historical methods for contemporary issues and film/photoelicitation.

Next year's Qualitative Research Methods in Business and Accounting Colloquium is scheduled to be held at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, on March 19th-20th.
