"Take good care of each other"
"Our most important priority is to take care of our students and employees that are affected", says rector Hanne Solheim Hansen.

On Wednesday April 10th a search operation for a missing student was initiated in Åselidalen in Bodø. The missing person is Dutch and is a student at the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture at Nord University. The police and many other experts have participated in search operations in the area, as far as conditions have allowed.

By eleven o'clock on Thursday, April 11th, the police changed the status of the rescue operation to a search for presumed deceased. The student is still missing.

"There is still an ongoing search operation for a missing student, and unfortunately, the police have confirmed that the situation is serious. The police are leading the search operation, and we are grateful for their efforts along with several resources from public and voluntary organisations. Our top priority now is to take care of students and staff affected by this incident", rector Hanne Solheim Hansen says.

"We have resources available for our fellow students and staff who need support and help. We have established a meeting place where students and staff can gather and discuss what has happened. A priest and student counselors from Studentinord will be present. The municipality's crisis team is also assisting in caring for those affected."

"We have been in contact with the family of the missing student. We encourage everyone to show care and respect for each other in this situation, and to take care of each other."

Meeting place established on campus:

The Lugaren in the main canteen in Bodø will be available on Friday between 12:00 and 15:00 for students and staff who need a common place to meet and talk to each other about what has happened. On Saturday and Sunday the meeting point will be at Alexandria, between 12:00 and 15:00.
